The name of our company is inspired by a unique work of art which stands in the heart of the Hungarian city of Budapest: the Timewheel. Built of granite, stainless steel, glass granules and weighing a massive 60 tons, it is the world’s largest hourglass. The granules flow from the upper to the lower chamber, their journey taking exactly one year – the last few passing through at exactly midnight on New Year’s Eve. Then the Timewheel is turned – using nothing more than human strength – so that the process can begin all over again.
This repetitive flow of granules year after year is similar to many people’s lives – at home and at work. How often do we promise ourselves that we will do new things, or do things differently or restart those things that we used to enjoy – but never actually get round to doing something about it. Years come, years go, and it’s often nothing more than talk. Then we grow older and can only wonder what might have been…
